Job Summary
The Quality Incoming Inspector is primarily responsible for inspecting and verifying incoming materials, components, and products to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications. This position supports manufacturing operations by identifying nonconforming materials, maintaining accurate inspection records, and working collaboratively with suppliers and internal departments to ensure only acceptable materials are released for production.
Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, components, and purchased products according to established inspection plans, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Verify dimensional, visual, and functional requirements using precision measuring equipment and inspection tools.
- Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete and maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
- Review certificates of conformance, material certifications, and supplier documentation for compliance with requirements.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues related to incoming materials.
- Assist with supplier corrective actions by providing inspection findings and supporting documentation.
- Maintain calibration awareness and proper care of inspection equipment and measuring instruments.
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions.
- Respond promptly to organizational needs; meet commitments and maintain strong working relationships.
- Coordinate activities with internal departments to best support organizational goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with quality management system requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and gauges.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems preferred.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in group problem-solving situations.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while performing inspections and documenting results.
